O T H E R . . .

IEEE VIS - the primary annual academic conference on visualization contains papers, panels, posters and demos with researchers in academia and industry working to develop visualization solutions and solve visualization problems as we establish visualization knowledge. Last year's meeting was in Paris, this year the meeting will be in Chicago.

giCentre vimeo channel - there are lots of examples of our work in the movies on vimeo.

New York Times - The NY Times produces compelling graphics, often with strong narrative. This example about Mariano Rivera is excellent - you will no doubt find others.

Tableau Software - are producing software that supports the flexible visual exploration of data in organizational contexts - it has impressive functionality and supports storytelling. There are plenty of demos and videos online.

Design for Information - Isabel Merielles book offers  a well-written structured look at some effective visualization design and justifies this in many cases with reference to academic literature and empirical research. It's a very good read that you may find inspiring.

Bernhard Jenny - has produced Adaptive Composite Map Projections that are designed to address some of the problems associated with the projections that are frequently used to show the globe in 2D.

That was just about it ...!
